The Irish office for Sun Life Reinsurance resides in Dublin. It is responsible for providing reinsurance solutions to our European clients. History
In December 2001, Sun Life Reinsurance (Ireland) Limited ("SLRIL"), a subsidiary of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada became entitled under Irish law to act as a reinsurer. In December 2007, following the implementation in Ireland of the EU Reinsurance Directive (2005/68/EC), SLRIL became authorised by the Irish Financial Regulator as a reinsurer. This authorisation allows it to carry on business throughout the EU.
In December 2003, the Irish Branch of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada became entitled to carry on reinsurance business in Ireland.
Financial strength
Both the branch and subsidiary are entitled under Irish Law to carry on reinsurance business in Ireland and the subsidiary is regulated by the Irish Financial Regulator.
The Irish branch enjoys the full financial security of its parent company Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada.
