Sun Life is committed to giving back to the local community, and since its establishment in 1998, has made huge efforts in raising awareness and funds for local charities. In 2009, a dedicated Sun Life community relations committee was established to create links between Sun Life and the local community. Employees can contact this committee to nominate a charity/organisation that they feel would benefit from our efforts. Smaller fundraising events are held throughout the year and can range from a Jeans Week to a Bake Sale or a Car Space Raffle. To date these fundraising efforts have benefited such charities as AWARE, Special Olympics, Waterford Search and Rescue, Crumlin's Children's Hospital and St. Vincent de Paul to name a few.

In addition, every second year our dedicated charity committee works to coordinate a large scale employee event, such as sporting events, musical concert and comedy nights with some of Ireland’s well known talents. In recent years, Sun Life has supported groups such as Pieta House, Waterford Hospice and the South East Cancer Foundation donating as much as €30,000 to each of these well deserved causes.
